On Thursday 10 October an appreciative audience enjoyed an evening with Rosie Page, daughter of James Herriot, and Nick Palmerley, a Trustee from Herriot Hospice Homecare.  Rosie entertained us with stories about her dad and Nick outlined the work of the Hospice and the future plans for a new care establishment in Thirsk, to be called the Lambert.  Rosie is an Ambassador for the Herriot Hospice.  Delicious canapes were made and served by the library volunteers.  A raf...

As a direct result of our recent appearance on BBC Breakfast, Bedale Mayor John Howe, was contacted by John Nowell.  John was based at RAF Leeming in the early 1970s for 12 months where he was trained to fly on the Jet Provost.  He remembers it as a particularly happy time and enjoyed visiting Bedale and the Dales regularly.  John is a keen photographer and has published photographic books with his wife, including one called "A Day above Yorkshire".  He has kindly d...

What a day for Bedale Community Library! We now have credit/debit card facilities available for payment at Bedale Community Library.  We have seen a substantial number of library customers who do not carry cash with them for payment and hope this will improve their library experience.  However, cash payments will still be taken and phone payment facilities will also be available.

On Monday 3 June the Trustees held their annual tea party to thank not only their Friends but also their Volunteers, as it was National Volunteers' Week.  Everyone enjoyed a delicious array of sandwiches, cakes and scones and it was a very happy event.  A guest from Library HQ in Northallerton said there was a real community feeling and that it was wonderful to see so many volunteers getting together to chat over tea and cake.

On Saturday 9 June, Bedale Community Library volunteers raised the grand total of £962.66 at the Bedale carboot sale on our designated fundraising day!  This is a huge boost to our funds and all donations were gratefully received.   A big thank you to everyone who helped on the day with collecting donations and clearing the park of any litter after the sale.                   ...
