BBC Breakfast comes to Bedale Library!

What a day for Bedale Community Library! BBC Breakfast wanted to use a library in connection with a feature on disappearing libraries throughout the UK, and show that with the help of volunteers from the community they can be saved.  An application was sent by one of our trustees and we were chosen!  The BBC broadcasting unit rolled into Bedale at 5am, making it a very early start for our volunteers appearing on the programme.

Interviews were held with trustees Mike, Sarah and Jenny outlining their passion for the library and Bedale Mayor John Howe discussed what it means to the community to have such a facility in Bedale.  Local children attended a junk modelling workshop, some of them on their very first day at school!  We also heard from Laura Dinning, North Yorkshire Outreach Librarian, about the support North Yorkshire Council offers the local community libraries to keep them up to date and relevant.

Jenny Barrie, one of our Trustees, was also interviewed on Radio York.

Well done to everyone involved, including the very helpful presenters and staff from the BBC.
